Judge Phillip Owen Robertson, age 63, of Steens, Miss., died Sunday, November 9, 2008, at his residence in Steens, Miss. Visitation was held Monday , November 10, 2008, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 11 at 1:00 P.M in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home, with Willis Logan and Joel Ellis, officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Judge Robertson was born April 30, 1945 in Columbus to the late Andrew Owen Robertson and Margie Mozelle Wheeler Robertson. A graduate of the Mississippi Judical College, Judge Robertson had served 20 years as Justice Court Judge for Lowndes County and had begun his 21st year on the bench. He was the youngest person ever elected to the Columbus City Council, serving 1 term from 1973-1977. He also served as a deputy sheriff for Lowndes County and was a member of the Columbus Police Department and served 6 years in A Btry, 2D 114 FA, Ms Army National Guard in Columbus. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Mexico. A Native American enthusiast, Judge Robertson collected Indian arrowheads, and made knives from deer antlers. He was a member of Woodlawn Church ofChrist. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Betts Robertson of Steens; two daughters, Brandie Robertson Harris(Jason) of Tupelo, Miss. and Andrea Robertson Hinton (Brian) of Brandon, Miss., his mother, Mrs. Margie Mozelle Robertson of Columbus, one brother Kenneth Larry Robertson(Becky) of Baton Rouge, La. and one sister Rebecca Robertson Tate( Robert) of Mobile, Ala. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren Madalyn Harris, Chase McDonald, Taylor , Cooper and Cadey Hinton; 2 nephews Chris Tate and Andrew Robertson and 3 nieces Tami Breazelle, Kellie Andrews and Ashley Walters. Pallbeares will be Wayne Logan, Tony Burnside, Ron Williams, Tony Shelton, Jerry Copeland, Stanley Bates, Frankie Young, and Buddy Kerr. Honorary Pallbearers will be "All My Friends."
