Robert Hunter Stanley Robert Hunter Stanley, 74, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, in Columbus, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Caledonia Church of Christ, Caledonia, Mississippi. Services will be conducted by Curtis (Sonny) McLellan and Shane Meredith. Visitation was held Monday, June 15, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Robert was born April 22, 1935, in Lowndes County to the late Albert Quitman and Janie Hunter Stanley. With the exception of his service in the U. S. Air Force, Robert lived all of his life in Caledonia, Mississippi. He married Mavis Claudine Seely, known to friends and family as Polly, of Hamilton, Mississippi in 1956, and they were blessed with three children. Robert retired from Columbus Air Force Base in 2001 where he was employed as a civil service instrument mechanic. Robert also enjoyed careers as a broadcast engineer for WCBI Radio and as an aircraft mechanic, also at Columbus Air Force Base. Performing any task with excellence and great attention to detail, Robert pursued his careers as well as his farming and his favorite hobby, model railroading. Roberts greatest legacy to his children is his integrity and spirit of generosity. Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Mr. Stanley is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mavis Claudine Seely Stanley; his eldest daughter, Beverly Joan Stanley Arndt (married to Earl); his son, Robert Dwayne Stanley (married to Pat); his youngest daughter Pamela Dawn Stanley West (married to Juston); grandchildren, Joshua Charles Robert Arndt (married to Elizabeth), Sarah Elizabeth Arndt Caldwell (married to Kenny), Jennifer Leah Stanley Williams (married to Dylan), Samantha Kay Stanley and, Jordan Lee West. Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Arndt, Jordan West, Kenny Caldwell, Dylan Williams, Jeremy Guess, Tommy Clegg and Jeremy West. Honorary pallbearers are the staff and caregivers at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle who served Robert and his family with compassion during his short illness. Memorials may be made to TORCH Missions, a Christian benevolent mission, or Case de Esperanza, a childrens home in Honduras, both at P. O. Box 9220, Columbus, Mississippi 39705.
