Nancy A. Gerhart , age 69 ,died Thursday, September 10, 2009 at her residence in Columbus MS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Shaeffer's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Walt Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Shaeffer's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Friday, September 11, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The daughter of the late James H. and Sarah Vick Gibson, Mrs. Gerhart was born in Lowndes County, Ms January 1, 1940. She was a member of Shaeffer's Chapel United Methodist Church. She retired in 2006 from the Lowndes County Schools after 30 years of employment. She was employed as a Teacher's assistant at West Lowndes Elementary and prior to being in the classroom, she was a bus driver for the school system. She is survived by her husband Robert S. "Bob" Gerhart of Columbus, sons J.B. Gerhart (Michelle) of Starkville and Stuart Gerhart (Nan) of Millport, Al . She is also survived by her sister Betty Adair, and her brother Vick (Ruthie) Gibson, both of Columbus, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren Pallbearers will be Trey Gerhart, Benjamin Gerhart, J.R. Gerhart, Zachary Gerhart, Isaac Gerhart, Jackie Triplett, Chuck Ellis, and Ricky Gentry. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis,TN 38101 .
