DIXIE BROWNLEE Dixie Lucille Jones Brownlee age 87 died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating, burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 until service time, at the funeral home. Mrs. Brownlee was born in Lowndes County, MS on Wednesday, April 02, 1924, to the late William Arthur and Annie Bell Dotherow Jones. On October 3, 1942 she married her late husband, William Morgan Brownlee. She was a member of Columbus First Baptist Church. Mrs. Brownlee made her living as a homemaker, but the job for which she had the most pride was as a Mother, Grandma, and great grandmother. Her family was her life and she loved nothing more than spending time with them. Her happiest times were spent at ball games, recitals, talent shows and any other event that gave her excuse to be with those she loved so dearly. Second only to her family, sports was another favorite pastime for Mrs. Brownlee. Whether in person or at home, she could be found enjoying a sporting event....especially the Atlanta Braves. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by, her infant son, William Morgan Brownlee, Jr., her sister, Bertha Harkins, and her son-in-law Lester Reed. Survivors include: One Daughter: Barbara Brownlee Reed, West Point, MS One Son: Dennis Brownlee (Rita), Columbus, MS Two Sisters: Mary Alice McClure, Columbus, MS Mildred Atkins, Largo, FL One Brother: William Arthur Jones, Jr., Caledonia, MS Seven Grandchildren: Angela Van Asselt (Lee) Hollie Sumrall (Clint) Jenna Stricklen (Casey) Bethany Brownlee Radale Reed (Leslie) Jason Reed (Alison) Scott Reed Six Great Grandchildren: Anna Grace Reed Kara Jane Reed Dixon Reed Lily Reed Ethan Van Asselt Reeves Sumrall And a host of very special nieces and nephews The Pallbearers will be: Radale Reed, Jason Reed, Scott Reed, Lee Van Asselt, Clint Sumrall, and Casey Stricklen The Honorary Pallbearers will be: Chuck Harkins, Randy McClure, Jimmy Atkins, Billy Atkins, Terry Brownlee, Tommy Brownlee, Jerry Brownlee, Bill Brownlee, and Joe Brownlee In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Palmer Home for Children P.O.
