Fannie Atkins Kellum, age 86, of Starkville, MS, formerly of Columbus, MS, passed away December 2, 2010, at her residence. Funeral services will be Monday, December 6, 2010, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Gillis officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be Sunday, December 5, 2010, from 3:00-5:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Kellum was born September 20, 1924, in Liberty, AL, to the late Lewis and Ada Key Youngblood Atkins. She was a graduate of Liberty, AL, High School and the University of Alabama. Mrs. Kellum was a retired teacher having taught in Grenada, MS, and at New Hope High School for many years. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Butler Kellum, grandson, John Matthews, III, and brothers, Hillman and Verbon Atkins. Survivors include a son, John Lewis Kellum of Starkville, MS, daughters, Delores Kellum Matthews of Louisville, MS, Karen K. Harris of Bethlehem, PA, and Marcia K. Pate and her husband, Donnie of Mandeville, LA, brothers, Orman Atkins of Reform, AL, and Donald Atkins of Columbus, MS, sister, Mildred Hudson of Columbus, MS, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jason Matthews, Stephen Pate, John Kellum, II, Sam Fletcher, Harold Youngblood, and Ralph Youngblood. Honorary pallbearers will be Cindy Clemons, James and Ressie Carpenter, Melvin and Ruby Butler, Joe Atkins, Don Doty, and Aubrey Nichols.
