Roger Dale Guy, 63, of Columbus, MS died Friday, January 30, 2009 at University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, February 2, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM . Services will be Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Ray officiating. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, in Fernbank, AL. Roger was born on Monday, April 23, 1945, in Columbus, MS to the late Lewis Lamen Guy, Jr. and Essie Marselle Hudson Guy. A graduate of Lee High School, he served in the Ms Army National Guard. For many years, he was employed by Brown Buick - Cadillac. After he became ill, he continued to work part-time at Holman Transmissions , where he had been employed for 25 years as Parts Manager. He was a member of McBee Baptist Church, where he also taught a Sunday School class. He is survived by his wife Juanita Poss Guy of Columbus, his daughter Kim Guy (Shawn Simmers) of Caledonia, Miss., his sons Steven Guy (Stephanie) of Camp Lejeune, N.C. and Ben Guy (Katiska) of Gordo, Ala. and his stepchildren Cathy Brown (Ken) , Charles Portera and Stephen Portera all of West Point, Miss. He is also survived by his brother Ray Guy (Johnnie) of Caledonia, Miss., uncles Justin Wayne Hudson(Ellen) of Coker, Al, Bill Frazier of Meridian, Ms and his aunt Marie Olson(Don) of Phillips, WI and three grandchildren . Pallbearers will be Charles Portera, Stephen Portera, Shawn Simmers, Phillip Frazier, Chris Spencer, and Ed Lollar. Honorary pallbearers are the UAB Kidney Transplant Doctors and Staff, UAB Pallative Care Center Doctors and Staff, employees of Holman Transmissions and members of McBee Baptist Church .
