Mildred Florence Farr Dyer, 94 ,of Columbus, MS died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, March 20, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home, with Rev. Ron McDougald officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Kingsville Cemetery, in Detroit, AL at 2:00 PM Mrs. Dyer was born on Wednesday, January 20, 1915, in Detroit, AL to the late James Robert and Mary I. Crisp Farr. She married Eston S. Dyer and was widowed in 1944 at the age of 29. She never had a drivers' license, so she walked to work at Seminole Manufacturing, where she was employed as a seamstress, for many years. She continued working at the same job after Seminole became BlueBell. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two daughters Jane Jones and Patsy Dyer, a brother Victor Farr and a sister Lee Sanders. Mama Mil was a precious, God-loving woman. She was quite unassuming, sweet and extremely loving. She was the glue that held our family together. The word"Beloved" perfectly describes our Mama Mil, who loved to cross-stich and work puzzles. She is survived by her son-Ray Dyer(Martha) of Caledonia, MS Daughters Sue Dyer Wood of Caledonia, MS and Mary Ann Dyer Atkins of Birmingham, AL; brother-Charles Farr of Columbus, MS; and sisters Robbie Wingo of Caledonia, MS and Frances Farr of Columbus, MS. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Atkins, Jerrod Atkins, Steve Wood, Andy Wood, Jason Dyer and Josh Vann.
