Mrs. Willard Olene Dawkins Chain, age 81, died Friday, November 29, 2013 at her home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Chapel with Rev. Oscar Maddox, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The daughter of the late Vester and Vera Dawkins Dawkins, Mrs. Chain was born April 1, 1932 in the Shady Grove community in Winston County, MS. A resident of Columbus since 1951, she was employed briefly at Seminole Manufacturing. Later she operated the family business Chain's Grocery for many years and retired in 2003 as owner/proprietor of the Ann-Lee Motel. She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Columbus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband JC Chain and a grandson David Chain. Mrs. Chain is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Billy and Brenda Edwards , Anthony Chain and his companion Michelle Poteet, James and Barbara Chain, all of Columbus and Mike and Brenda Chain of Reform, AL. She is also survived by her sisters Louise Stewart-Edwards of Crawford, MS and Lucille Dawkins of Columbus, six grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be William Edwards, III, Brooks Swink, Cody Swink, Dustin King, Mark Chain and Jason Chain. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Legacy Hospice of the South, Chain's Logging, and Jeffrey Britt, NP
