JAMES E. SIMPSON James Elbert "Freck" Simpson age 82 died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shelby Hazard officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Simpson was born on Sunday, June 14, 1931 in Pickens County, AL to the late William Hood and Ellen Faulkner Simpson. While on earth, he enjoyed many hobbies, which included farming, fishing, hunting, carpentry, and spending time with his family. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. Affectionately known as Freck to most people, he never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Janette Simpson, his sister, Vera S. Keller, and his brothers, Page H. Simpson, Woodrow W. Simpson, William Houston Simpson, and Stanford Curtis Simpson. Survivors include: His wife of 62 years: Joyce Blankenship Simpson, Columbus MS Two Daughters: Sharon Durrett (Brad) Nancy Boggs (Jeff), Murfreesboro, TN Two Sons: Jamie Simpson (Thresia), Columbus, MS Billy Simpson (LeAnn), West Point, MS Two Sisters: Helen Reed, Columbus, MS Eleanor Ellis, Columbus, MS Two Brothers: Claude Simpson (Elizabeth), Columbus, MS Charles Simpson (Margaret), Harlem, GA Seven Grandchildren: Alison Harris Nicole Ciaravino Randy Simpson Ryan Willis Bruce Simpson Tyler Edmonds Mary Joyce Boggs 7 Great Grandchildren Along with numerous family and friends The family would like to thank those who gave support and prayers, and the caregivers, Ellen Henry, Magnolia Jones, and Regina Peoples.
