Mrs. Lewis was born on July 13, 1919 in Kentucky to the late Robert Russell and Edith Shum McClellan. She was a member of First Baptist Church Columbus and a charter member of the Les Aimis Study Group. She was a former Baptist Student Union Director at Mississippi University for Women and taught Bible in the Columbus Public School System. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Miller Lewis and one brother George McClellan.
