Dorothy Ray McIntyre, age 92, died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at her home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM in the Atrium of Annunciation Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Father Robert Dore at 2:00 PM at Annunciation Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The daughter of the late Sam Moore and Alma Stallings Ray, Mrs. McIntyre was born April 28, 1920 in Meridian, MS. She was a charter and lifetime member of the Junior Auxiliary, Magnolia Garden Club and Marching and Chowder. A longtime faithful communicant of Annunciation Catholic Church, she was a former member of the choir. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and sang 0 Holy Night at Midnight Mass each Christmas for many years. She attended Mississippi State University and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband William Henry McIntyre, her son Charles Scott McIntyre and her daughter-in-law Anna Hardy McIntyre. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law William Henry McIntyre, Jr. and Susan of New Orleans, LA; Sam Ray McIntyre, Dr. Thomas Michael McIntyre and Wanda and Robert Green McIntyre, and her daughter-in-law Deena McIntyre, all of Columbus; her daughter Marie McIntyre Barrett of Randleman, NC and her brother and sister - in- law Sam and Charlene Ray of Yazoo City, MS. She is also survived by her grandchildren Frances and Will Knight of Greenwood, MS; Rowanne and Jay McKnight of Nashville, TN; Thomas Michael McIntyre, Jr. and Evelyn Claire McIntyre of Columbus and Sarah Barrett of New Orleans, LA and her great grandchildren Julia and Eleanor Knight, and James R. , Walker and Caroline McKnight. She is also survived by several McIntyre and Ray nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Thomas Michael McIntyre, Jr. Will Knight, Jay McKnight, Floyd H. McIntyre, David McIntyre, Sam Ray, Jr., Dee Ray and Ron McMaster. Memorials may be made to Friends of Annunciation Catholic Church for the Renovation of the Chapel, 823 College Street, Columbus, MS 39701 or to Annunciation Catholic School, 223 North Browder, Columbus, MS 39702.
