NORMA CRAIG POPE Norma Craig Pope Age 88 died February 13, 2007 at The Arrington in Columbus, MS Services will be held at First Baptist Church on Friday, February 16, 2007 at 3:00 PM with Dr. Shawn Parker Officiating burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery Visitation will be at First Baptist Church on Friday, February 16, 2007 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM Mrs. Pope was born in New Albany MS, from the union of Hugh and Ada Belle Cheairs on January 16, 1919. Mrs. Pope was a longtime active member of First Presbyterian Church (now Main Street Presbyterian) where she served as Women's Circle Leader and was a devoted Bible scholar. In 1984 she and her late husband Willis Pope Jr. joined First Baptist Church where she was a member of the George Shalles Sunday School Class and WMU. She was a 1936 graduate of Aberdeen High School and a 1940 graduate of Mississippi State College for Women as an English major. She and Willis were married in October 1942 and served in the military until 1945, when they returned to Columbus. Willis then joined the National Bank of Commerce as a cashier/teller and later was named as Executive Vice President until his retirement in 1989. She loved to cook and garden, and in later years to play the piano for the residents of The Arrington. She was a prayer warrior for many, she loved and looked forward to her visits with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was one of 12 children and, was preceded in death by her parents Hugh R. Craig and Ada Belle Craig, her husband Willis Pope Jr., her daughter Beverly Ann Pope, brothers Hugh Craig, Sloan Craig, Boyd Craig, Boyce Craig, and Bill Craig, sisters Kathryn Craig Young, Wilma Craig Lindsey, Dorothy Craig Harris and Gloria Craig Neill. survivors include: Daughter-Martha Bozeman (Eddie) of Columbus, Miss. Daughter-Betty Waters (Mike) of Columbus, Miss. Son-Willis Pope, III (Carolyn) of Columbus, Miss. Brother-Herbert Craig of San Jose, Calif. mother-in-law-Mary Ellen Pope of Columbus, Miss. Grandchild-Allison P. Barton Grandchild-Emily W.
