Mrs. Tip Smith Easley, 88 ,of Columbus, MS died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Trinity Healthcare Center in Columbus, MS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating at the funeral will be Rev. Mickey Dalrymple, and Rev. Ron McDougald. Following the funeral, she will be buried next to her husband James William Easley at Friendship Cemetery, in Columbus, MS. Mrs. Easley was born on Thursday, September 23, 1920, in Fayette County, AL to the late Thomas Jefferson and Doshie Savage Smith. One of eleven children, she was predeceased by her parents, six sisters, three brothers and her husband James William Easley. A life-long resident of Columbus and a long-time member of East End Baptist Church, she became a member of Fairview Baptist when she moved to Trinity Place. She was a member of Eastern Star and a former member of Broadacres Homemakers Club. She had been an active participant in Senior Olympics and an active member of AARP. She is survived by her son Buddy Easley (Kathy) and daughters Frances Ann Easley Hawkins and Glenda Easley Beard (Wayne) all of Columbus, MS, Carolyn Easley Blake(Phil) of Dover-Foxcroft, ME, Cynthia Easley McGee (Forrest, Jr.) of Glen Allen, VA and Rose Easley Coggins(Danny) of Starkville, MS. She is also survived by her sister Juanita Kelly of Quincy, FL, seven grandchildren Carol Anne Beard, Eddie Hawkins, Beth Hawkins, Angelia Lytle, Jeff Coggins, Katie Coggins, Philip Coggins, three great grandchildren Sarah Lytle and Taylor and Trey Hawkins and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jeff Coggins, Philip Coggins, Eddie Hawkins, Sean Lytle, Bubba Comer and Jack McGee. Honorary pallbearers will be John Laws, Jr., Gene Guyton, Jimmy Pannell, Jim Kinsey, Gerald Scallions, Billy Sims, Bo Jarrett, Dr. Frank Dailey, Dr. Walt Porter, Dr. Jack Reed, Dr. Chris LeBrun, Employees of Easley Refrigeration and Employees of Trinity Healthcare Center. Memorials may be made to Trinity Family Group, 230 Airline Road, Columbus, MS 39702.
