Lovie Jean Fuqua, age 89, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday December 21, 2012 at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Jearl Hunley officiating. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Thursday December 20, 2012 from 6 p.m.until 8 p.m. Mrs. Fuqua was born on Thursday, June 28, 1923 in Liberty, AL, to the late Glen and Mary Shelton Redus. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She worked as a payroll clerk at MossTie, and later owned and operated Fuqua Brothers Grocery Store on Military Road. Mrs. Fuqua was a talented seamstress; she loved working outdoors in her yard and flower beds and had a green thumb for growing things. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed attending family reunions. She enjoyed riding with her son on his Commercial Dispatch route #59, and visiting with all the people they came in contact with. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Cyril L. Fuqua, her brothers Toxie Huelett Redus and Banks Redus. Survivors include her daughter Gwendolyn Fuqua Deal (Harry), The Woodlands, TX; her son Cyril Victor "Vic" Fuqua (Sarah), Millport, AL; and her brother Dwight Denman Redus (Shirley), Lakeland, FL. She is also survived by three grandchildren Jeralyn Suzanne Powney (Simon), Starkville, MS; Jamie Elizabeth Catinat (Gilles), Les Sourgeres, France;and Adam Sanders Fuqua, Martin, TN; and five great grandchildren Matthieu, Jonathon, and Andrew Catinat, and Jackson and Emma Powney In leiu of flowers memorial may be made to Palmer Home for Children P.O.
