Louis Peter "Flip" DeFillipo, age 91, of Columbus died Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church on Thursday, January 10, 2008 from 11:00AM until 1:00PM. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 1:00 PM. with Rev. Robert Dore officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus. The son of the late Peter and Concetta DeFellipo DeFillipo, Mr. DeFillipo was born March, 17, 1916 in South Plainfield, New Jersey. . He served in the Army-Air Corps in World War II, and after 4 years in the military , he began a 40 year career in Civil Service at the old Air Base in Greenville, Ms.. When that base closed, he transferred to Columbus Air Force Base and retired from Civil Service while at CAFB. He was a Supervisor in the Aerial Ground Equipment "AGE" shop at CAFB. Mr. DeFillipo was a long-time member of Annunciation Catholic Church and the W.H. Jolly, Council 7974, Knights of Columbus and served as Financial Secretary for a number of years. He was also a 4th degree Knight in the Gene Hicks Assembly, K of C. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Carmella Guerieri, and four brothers Angelo, Anthony, Paul and Eugene. He is survived by his sons Louis P. DeFillipo, II and John Edward DeFillipo, both of Columbus.; a brother Edward DeFillipo (Katherine) Plainfield, NJ ; sisters Barbara Bartlett (Carl), South Plainfield, NJ; Jeanette Modola (Frank), Stuart, FL; and Virginia Bianculli (Fred), Pottstown, PA; and granddaughters Lyndsi and Lauryn DeFillipo. His body will be cremated , and his ashes will be buried in Cleveland, Ms, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Annunciation Catholic School, 223 N. Browder, Columbus, Ms 39702.
