Billy Franklin McDaniel, age 80, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Home Place in Columbus.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services, with military honors, will be conducted by Rev. Charles Whitney, Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 1:00pm at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. McDaniel was born September 27, 1927 in Pickensville, Al to the Late William F. and Golda Estelle Hedrick McDaniel. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother William Fred McDaniel, Jr. He was retired from the United States Postal Service in Columbus.He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II, the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and later served in the U.S. Army Reserves and the Mississippi Army National Guard. He was a Master Mason and a member of Columbus Lodge #5, F&AM, Scottish Rite of Ms, and Hamasa Shrine. he was also a member of NALC Branch 1692 and a life member of VFW Post 4272. Mr. McDaniel is survived by his sons Billy F. McDaniel, Jr. (Heike) , Warner Robins, Ga.and Darrin S. McDaniel, Columbus; daughter Debra M. Price(Michael), Columbus; grandchildren Lewis, Christina, Matthew, Brianna and Rebecca; sister-in-law Jane B. McDaniel, Auburn, Al; nieces Golda A. McDaniel, Auburn, Al and Donna Kay"Sissy" Moses, Burke, Va ;a great niece, great nephew and two great-great nieces.
