GENE KNIGHT Frances Eugenia "Gene" Knight age 61 died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at her residence in Columbus. Services will be held Friday, May 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Ron Delgado and Jessie Ray officiating, burial will follow at Egger Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Frances Knight was born in West Point, MS to Roy and Frances Garner. She grew up in Columbus, MS, and is an alumnus of Lee High School and Mississippi University for Women. Frances, known as Gene by her family and friends, married John Knight on August 10, 1975. Together they built a successful business, and cared for a family including two sons and three girls. A faithful Christian, and charter member of Evangel Church, Gene was a committed volunteer and a loving mentor within her church family, children's schools, and her hometown. She worked tirelessly to make every member of her family and her friends feel loved and special. Gene is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Johnny Knight of Columbus, MS.
