Suzanne Gail Cheney Conn, age 57, of Columbus died Sunday, December 19, 2010 at her home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday evening December 20, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00 PM -8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Dalrymple and Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The daughter of Irving L. and Neva Jane McCown Cheney, Mrs. Conn was born August 21, 1953 in Louisville, KY. She graduated from college in Boston, MA, receiving a degree in Nursing. After moving to Columbus approximately 30 years ago, she went back to college and received a degree in Social Work from M.U.W. She was employed with MS Dept. of Human Services for many years, combining her two degrees in nursing and social work. After her health forced her to resign from her job, she became a Pink Lady at Baptist Memorial Hospital " Golden Triangle, and an enthusiastic volunteer for the Lowndes County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She attended and was also a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father Irving L. Cheney. Mrs. Conn is survived by her husband, Ronnie Conn, her mother Neva Jane McCown Cheney, her sister Sarah Logan, all of Columbus, her sister M. Lee Cheney (Daniel Mark) of Chapel Hill, NC, stepsons Rodney Conn of Columbus and Kenneth Conn of New York City, NY, niece Rebecca Mark, nephew Terry Logan and a granddaughter Jessica Conn. Pallbearers will be Rodney Conn, Mike Logan, Dan Mark, Terry Logan, Thad Moody and Dennis Patrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Hutchinson, Kenneth Conn, Homer Humphrey and Troy Whitten.
