Mrs. Lucille Marie "Lucy" Lovett Liebling, age 92, of Steens, MS, formerly of Charleston, AR, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital " Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation, followed by a funeral service, was held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home. A second visitation and service, officiated by Rev. Benny Harmon, will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Putman Funeral Home in Ft. Smith, AR. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Ft. Smith, AR. The daughter of the late Bart and Eula Elkins Lovett, Mrs Liebling was born November 5, 1918 in Booneville, MS. She was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK and earned a Masters Degree in Education from National Teachers College in Evanston, IL. She retired after 30 years of teaching and was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. During her retirement years, she was active in various volunteer services in Evanston, IL and Charleston, AR, where she was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bernard Liebling, a brother Elkins Lovett, and two sisters Gladys McLarty and Beatrice Harris. Mrs. Liebling is survived by her son and daughter "in-law Franklin B. and Tammy Woolbright Liebling of Steens, MS, her brother LTC (Ret) Jack C. Lovett, Manchester, MO, her sister Hazel Nicholson, Ft. Smith, AR and one granddaughter Maryjane Lucille Liebling, Pittsburg, PA as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the donors favorite charity.
