Dorothy "Dottie" Virginia Odom

Dorothy Dotty Odom Dorothy Virginia Dotty Odom, 89 passed from this earth in her home on October 29, 2010. Dotty was born August 18, 1921 in Mt. Olive, NC, to Roy and Nora Overton. She had lived in Lawton, OK; Yuma, AZ; Savannah, GA; and Columbus, MS. She had lived in Columbus since 1958. Yuma was her favorite place to live, and she would have stayed there had it not been that her husband was in the Air Force, necessitating moves to new assignments. She worked at the Columbus AFB Exchange and the CAFB Commissary prior to retiring. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph F. Odom, in 1998. She raised three children who loved her dearly; daughters, Tonie (Jim) Day of Biloxi, MS, and Kaye Shelton McElwain (David) of Columbus; and son, Frankie Odom of Columbus. In addition to her children, she is survived by grandchildren, James Chip (Kathie) Day, Jeffrey Day, Laura Odom, and Justin (Anna) Shelton; and great grandchildren, Megan Odom, Paige and Jamie Day, and Claire and Cole Shelton. She was predeceased by brothers, Junious, Bobby, and Billy, and sisters, Brookie Roberson, Elizabeth Rivenbark, and Louise Cashwell Davis, all of North Carolina. Surviving siblings are brothers David (Elaine) of Mt. Olive, NC, and Jimmy (Faye) of Dudley, NC. A very special remembrance to Sissy, Dottys devoted caretaker.
