Travis T. Barksdale Age 78 died August 26, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. Services will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ralph Windle and Rev. Steve Lammons Officiating Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mr. Barksdale was born May 10, 1929 in Lowndes County, Ms., one of six sons of the late William Collier and Lola Gray Gunnels Barksdale. For many years he was the owner and operator of Barksdales Gulf Station on the 5th Street South. Mr. Barksdale was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: L.C. W.E., Frank and Aaron Barksdale. Mr. Barksdale is survived by his Wife-Peggy Harris Barksdale, his sons and daughters-in-law Ronald and Judy Barksdale Donald and Vicki Barksdale Steve and Gayla Barksdale Chris Barksdale all of Columbus, Ms his daughters and sons-in-law Susan and Harold Denton of Steens, Miss. Tracie and Mark Weathers of Columbus, Miss. Brother and sister-in-law-Arlis and Jennifer Barksdale of Coker, Ala. Sister-Ruth Shumpert of Tuscaloosa, Ala. Sister and brother-in-law "Ann and Carl Cumberland of Caledonia, Miss. Mr. Barksdales sons and sons-in-law will be the active pallbearers.
