DAVID HAYNES David Morton Haynes, Jr., age 83, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Columbus, MS, passed away July 27, 2011, at Clare Bridge Assisted Living in Jacksonville, FL. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Shane and Jim Haynes officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Friday, July 29, 2011, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Haynes was born August 14, 1927, in New Orleans, LA, to the late David M. and Beatrice Wilson Haynes, Sr. He was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Marines for two years in occupied Japan. Mr. Haynes retired from the U. S. Postal Service after fourty four years and was a member of the East Columbus Church of Christ. He had an avid interest in aviation, enjoyed playing tennis, and was a Notre Dame fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Belue Haynes. Survivors include his sons, David M. Haynes, III, and his wife Keitha of Cordova, TN, John A. Haynes and his wife Beth of Tallahassee, FL, and James Haynes and his wife Ellen of Tallahassee, FL, daughter, Rebecca Haynes Mott and her husband, Todd of Jacksonville, FL, sister, Flo McCullough of Navarre Beach, FL, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brad Haynes, John Haynes, Jr., Hunter Haynes, Jay Haynes, Benjimen Mott, and Rigg Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay McCrary, Riley Haynes, Terry Thomas, Tom Dashiell, Ike Savelle, Fred Hemphill, and the late Hampton Couchman.
