Don Ray Cox, 79, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at his residence in Columbus. His body has been cremated, and internment will take place at a later date. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 10:00AM at Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Cox was born November 25, 1929 in Gunter, TX to the late James Lee and Gladys Jamison Cox. He was a graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK. He retired from Civil Service at Columbus Air Force Base after more than 30 years of service. He served in the US Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. An avid golfer, Mr. Cox was a 35-year member of Green Oaks Golf Club, where he served as President of the Board of Directors for a number of years. In addition to his parents, a brother, J.L. Cox, predeceased him. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife Peggy Gant Cox of Columbus; sons Kevin Cox (Michelle) of Caledonia, Ms and Dennis Cox of Columbus; brother Troy Cox (Bobbie) of Sherman, TX, sister-in-law Cathy Cox, of Virginia Beach, VA; and grandsons Richard J. Cox (Karen) of Fort Stewart, GA; J. Loren Cox of Caledonia, Ms and granddaughter Tiffany Lynn Cox of San Diego, CA. Memorials may be made in Mr. Coxs memory to Palmer Home for Children, P.O.
