Robert Earl "Sonny" Lamar age 70 died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Prentiss Gordon Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Mr. Lamar was born on Friday, January 05, 1940 in Columbus to the late Edgar Earl and Earline Hearn Lamar. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was a 1957 graduate of Lee High School, attended Mississippi State University and received his banking degree from the University of Mississippi. He retired as vice-president of First Columbus National Bank, (later Am South Bank) after 42 years of service. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, York and Scottish Rite, a Shriner and an Odd Fellow. Survivors include his wife Rosemary Wright Lamar, Columbus MS; one daughter Alison Jezek (Pavel), Colorado Springs, CO; two sons Robert E. Lamar, II (Michelle) and Brad Lamar, both of Columbus, MS; and two sisters Jean Snow, Macon, GA and Joan Stieneker, Golden, CO. He is also survived by five grandchildren Boyce Moody, Trey Lamar, Matthew Lamar, Kyle Lamar and Cameron Lamar and one great grandchild Lily Rose Moody . Honorary Pallbearers will be Thomas Cole,Wayne Flye and Gay Atkins. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital 815 Market Street Galveston, TX 77550
