Carl Brantley Griffin, a much loved daddy, Pops, son, and brother left us for his heavenly home on August 16, 2013 at the age of 53. Visitation was Sunday, August 18, 2013 with services held Monday, August 19 at Memorial Funeral Home chapel at 2pm with Reverend Don Harding officiating. Burial followed at Egger Cemetery. Carl was born in Columbus, Mississippi to Dorothy Grant Griffin and the late Floyd E. Griffin on May 8, 1960. He lived his life as an active member of the community of Caledonia and was a member of Kolola Springs Baptist Church as well as the Caledonia Pride Club. Carl loved spending time with his girls whether he was standing behind the plate to help Brittany with her pitching, driving the team bus for Lindseys volleyball team or escorting Mallory on the football field during homecoming. He served as a member of the Sports Boosters where he was known for cooking his famous Carl Burgers . He was a dedicated father who followed his girls everywhere in their many extracurricular activities. Carl was a member of the volunteer fire department and served as a Caledonia Town Alderman. He spent many hours working for the Lowndes County Sheriffs Department as well as the Caledonia Marshalls Department. Carl also spent many years in sales where he made countless friends. Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends and shooting his homemade cannon during the holidays. Later in life, taxidermy became his new favorite hobby. Carl is survived by his children, Brittany Griffin, Mallory Griffin (Robbie Rickard), and Lindsey Griffin (Joey Pounders), two grandchildren, Brantley Rickard and Braxton Griffin, three sisters, Cheryl Shepherd (Lester), Carol Griffin, and Camellia Moody (Mark), one brother, Chris Griffin (Michele) and 9 nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Steve Hatcher, Todd Waldrop, Larry Swearingen, Jeff Wilson, Michael Grant, and Derrick Griffin. Honorary pallbears were Ryan Turner, Joey Pounders, Robbie Rickard, Austin Shepherd, Lester Shepherd, Hunter Griffin, Drake Griffin, Tayler Frye, Mark Moody, Nate Moody, Sean Hannah, Phillip Dicicco, Jack Schamel, Dale Reese, Andy Grant, Eric Grant, Alex Grant, Owen (Diamond) King, Nelson James, Andy Hubbard, Bo Dearman, members of the Lowndes County Sheriff Department, and the Caledonia Marshall Department. Carls family would like to thank Baptist Hospice and all our friends and family for their love and support during this difficult time.
