Eleanor "Put" Atkins Burris Columbus Mississippi - Eleanor "Put" Atkins Burris 79 died February 2, 2006 at her residence in Columbus. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for 79 years and the Lewis Fellowship Class. Mrs. Burris was the secretary at Heritage Elementary School for 15 years and a member of The North MS Emmaus Community, The Home and Garden Club, The Pioneer Society, The Columbian's Luncheon Club, and the Bridge Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John William "Bill" Burris Jr., her sister Lillian Atkins Hayslett, and her brother Ivy Homer Atkins Jr. Funeral services will be Sunday February 5, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. from First United Methodist Church with the Dr. Sam Morris Rev. Glenn Miller officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6 until 8 at Memorial Funeral Home and from 1:30 til service time at the church. Survivors include Sons: John William "Billy" Burris Jr. (Vickie) of West Point MS, Randle Atkins "Randy" Burris (Marilyn "Lee Lee") of Columbus MS, Francis Humphries (Frank) Burris of Thomas Oscar (Tom) Burris (Priscilla), Birmingham AL. Grandchildren: Eleanor Lane "Ellane" Burris Gilmore (Matthew Thomas), John William (John) Burris IV (Nichole), Anna Eleanor Burris, Randle Atkins Burris, Elizabeth Ivy Burris Harris (Justin Scott), Amy Frances Burris, Ann Keeler (Keely) Burris, Thomas Christopher (Chris) Burris Great Grandchildren: Payton Keeler Gilmore and John Thomas Gilmore. Pallbearers will be Joe Douglas, Ike Savelle, Oscar Burris, Vee Ferguson, Mike Kirby, Lynn Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lewis Fellowship Class, Bobby Jones, Shield Sims, Atwell Egger, William Roberts, Dr. James Woodard, Willie Lou Staples.
