MELBA BRACKIN Melba Dean Brackin age 90 died Thursday April 26, 2012 at her residence in Columbus. Services will be held Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Lammons officiating, burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Lamar County, AL. Visitation at the funeral home, Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Mrs. Brackin was born on Thursday, April 13, 1922 in Lamar County, AL to the late Thomas I. and Mamie Godfrey Cannon. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Joy-Berry Sunday School Class. She was a retired saleslady for Eggers and Belk-Hudson Department Stores. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Marshall Brackin, her son Jackie Brackin, her sisters, Dot Drees and J-Nita Guin, and her brothers, Dorman Cannon, Venton Cannon, Ronnie Cannon and Thutis Cannon Survivors include: Two Daughters: Patsy Hester (Hardy), Columbus, MS Dell Wear, Huntsville, AL Daughter-In-Law: Dottie Brackin Kemp, Yalaha, FL Three Sisters: Hazel Stripling (James), Birmingham, AL Helen Fields, Birmingham, AL Polly Ball (Johnny), Birmingham, AL One Brother: Deloy Cannon (Nancy), Birmingham, AL Five Grandchildren: Virginia Brotherston-Corbell (Jerry) Charles Hardy Hester (Candi) Mark O.
