Mr. Via was born on August 8, 1938 in Covington VA to the late Melvin Franklin and Laura Helmentoller Via. He was a member of Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Marine Veteran. He was a Project Coordinator for incoming work groups at Palmer Home for Children, this was just one of the many capacities he served in during a career with Palmer Home that spanned over 30 years. He was an avid sports fan and was involved in area little league baseball and youth basketball. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Ryland, and Elwood Via.
