Betty Jean Haynes

December 17, 1929 — February 2, 2007

Mrs. Betty Jean Belue Haynes, 78, of Columbus, MS passed away Friday February 2, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Services are Monday February 5, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Chapel with David Haynes, III officiating. Visitation is Sunday February 4, 2007 at Memorial Funeral Home from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Betty Belue Haynes was born on December 17, 1929 in Columbus, MS to the late Aubrey Belue, Sr. and Grace McCrary Belue. She started Knee High School in the late 1950s and taught at Franklin and Mitchell Elementary Schools in Columbus. She then joined the faculty of The W, teaching elementary methods and directing the Demonstration schools Kindergarten program. She developed Bible School teaching materials and published The Bible Talk Times . She also conducted Bible School teacher trainings for a number of churches, and was very active in teaching the children of East Columbus Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Belue Roberts. She is survived by her husband, David Morton Haynes, Jr.; daughter, Rebecca Haynes Mott (Todd); sons, David Haynes, III (Keitha), John Haynes, Sr. (Beth), and Jim Haynes (Ellen); brother, Aubrey Belue; grandchildren, Terry Haynes Williams, Melissa Haynes Perry, Brad Haynes, John Haynes, Jr., Hunter Haynes, Hayley Haynes, Emily Haynes, Jay Haynes, Riley Haynes, Benjamin Mott, and Emma Grace Mott, along with 3 great-grandchildren.
