Peggy J. Russell, age 70, of Columbus died Friday, December 16, 2011 at North MS Medical Center in West Point, MS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 19, 2011 at Annunciation Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Father Robert Dore officiating. Visitation will start at 9:30 AM in the church atrium. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The daughter of the late Marlon Odell and Annie Jo Kyles Ponds, Mrs. Russell was born August 3, 1941 in Millport, AL. She graduated from S. D. Lee Senior High School in Columbus. A resident of Columbus since 1978, She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church. She retired from the Medical office of Drs. Spencer and Vinson, where she was the receptionist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Michael A. Russell, who died April 14, 1994, her stepfather Hunter M. Shackelford, and three sisters Betty Jo Goodman, Mildred Robinson and Barbara Ann Bob Clardy. She is survived by her daughter Angela Russell Holloway (Mike) of Hamilton, MS, her sons Lonnie J. Russell (Melissa) of Franklin, TN and Michael O. Odie Russell (Michelle) of Richlands, NC, her sister Dorothy Sue Swain of Hamilton, MS and her brother Jimmy Dell Ponds of Opp, Al. She is also survived by her grandchildren Devan and Griffin Russell, Barret, JP and Brandy Holloway and Karissa Russell Teeter and Christian Russell and great grandchild Gracey Holloway. Pallbearers will be Christian Russell, Griffin Russell, Barret Holloway, Larry Pounders, Lance Clardy and Robbie Robinson.
