Shirley Jean Matthews Hefner died Friday evening, November 9, 2007 at the North Ms Medical Center, Tupelo, Ms. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.at Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1:00pm at Egger Cemetery . Mrs. Hefner was born October 15, 1928 to the late William Irvin and Cecile Brown Matthews in Tampa, Fl. She was a former member of Bay View Baptist Church in Tampa, where she was the church pianist for several years. She was an Air Force wife and mother who made a home for her family wherever the family was stationed. Her husband brought his family to CAFB in 1966 , and after he retired, the family became residents of Caledonia.in 1969. Mrs. Hefner attended Kolola Springs Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for several years. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Irvin Matthews and her sister Charlotte Matthews. Mrs. Hefner is survived by her husband, Charles Julian Hefner, son Charles J. Hefner, Jr. , both of Caledonia; son Irvin L. Hefner (Mary), West Liberty, OH and daughter, Janette Marie Hefner Dodson (Walter), Caledonia, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Charlie Hefner, Irv Hefner, Walter Dodson, Chase Hefner and William Irvin Matthews. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O.Box 2178, Ridgeland, Ms 39157.
