Miss Lorraine Sparks, age 91, of Columbus, MS, passed away December 15, 2012, at Homeplace of Columbus. Funeral services will be Monday, December 17, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, December 17, 2012, one hour prior to the service at Memorial Funeral Home. Miss Sparks was born August 29, 1921, in Columbus, MS, to the late Clarence B. and Annie Mae Sullivan Sparks. She was a graduate of Lee High School and received degress from MSCW and the University of Alabama. Miss Sparks was an elementary school teacher at Demonstration, Fairview, and Coleman, and also taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church where she was a member. She was a member of the Eloise Crossley Sunday School Class, Pilot Club, and Garden Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Sparks Harrison, and brother Clarence Bernard Sparks, Jr. Survivors include nieces, Dottie Johnson of Columbus, MS, and Barbara Sparks of Tampa, FL, and nephews, Arthur Harrison of Tupelo, MS, and Clarence Bernard Sparks of FL. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 829, Columbus, MS, 39703.
