Evelyn Juanita Gullette Hardin, age 80, of Columbus, MS passed away to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Home Place of Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM before the service at Sharon Primitive Baptist Church in Lake, MS. The funeral service will be at 3:30PM with Rev. Melvin Mordecai, officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Born Tuesday, July 9, 1929 in Lake, MS, she was the oldest child born to the late Delbert Walter and Wilma Usry Gullette. She lived in Lake for 18 years, helping with the farm work and attending Lake School. She married Harold Andrew Hardin on May 8, 1948 and became a Navy wife in 1949. She and her husband lived all over the United States, moving 27 times in 22 years. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. A talented homemaker, she sewed all of her daughters' dresses, gardened, and cooked wonderful meals 365 days a year. She loved to cook and never met a person she didn't try to feed. She was the widow of the late Harold Andrew Hardin, who died in September, 2007. She was also predeceased by a brother Dale Gullette, sisters Myra Breland and Opal Carter, stepfather Daddy Red Tillman, a nephew Timothy Gullette and two nieces Wendy and Penny Breland. She is survived by daughters, Wanda Hardin McIntyre (Mike) of Columbus, MS and Peggy Hardin Hawkins (Ray) of Longmount, CO, brother, Jerry Gullette of Jackson, MS, sister, Margaret Ann Crimm of Lake, MS, grandsons Jay Hawkins and Thomas McIntyre and granddaughter Evelyn Claire McIntyre, her lifelong friend Opal Allen of Forest, MS and many nieces and nephews. Her nephews and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made may to Annunciation Catholic School ,223 North Browder Street, Columbus, MS 39702 or to a favorite charity.
