James Edgar Donovan

Dr. James E. Donovan, age 66, of Columbus died Saturday night , July 13, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Healthcare " Golden Triangle in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, July 19, 2013 at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Robert Dore, celebrant. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM in the church atrium. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The son of the late Dr. John Wesley and Erssey Lee Evans Donovan, Dr. Donovan was born November 14, 1946 in Lake Providence, LA. He grew up in Vicksburg, MS and received an Associates degree from Hinds Community College. He graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA and had been a Chiropractor in Columbus for over 30 years. A veteran, he served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, was a P.O.W. and was classified as M.I.A. for some time. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and a 3rd Degree member of W.H. Jolly Council 7974, Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion and the D.A.V. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in law and mother-in-law Robert Frederick and Helen Lucinda Montgomery Knoeferl, a sister-in-law Barbara Ann Knoeferl and a brother-in-law Joseph Rodney Knoeferl. Dr. Donovan is survived by his wife Martha E. Donovan of Columbus, his brother and sister-in-law John F. and Betty Donovan of Vicksburg, MS and a nephew John Michael Donovan and a niece Devona Hope Dew. Pallbearers will be members of the W.H. Jolly Council 7974, Knights of Columbus. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 697 W. Main St., Tupelo, MS 38804.
