Mr. Billy Lee Fortner, 72, passed away February 9, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. Visitation is Sunday February 11, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home. Services are Monday February 12, 2007 at 10:00 am at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Mr. Fortner was born on May 19, 1934 in Caledonia, Ms to the late Buron Lee Fortner and Ethel Adene Aldridge. He graduated from Caledonia High School and attended Mississippi State University and the University of Southern Mississippi. He spent twenty years active duty in the U.S. Airforce and retired in January 1973. He worked worked for the U.S. postal service, worked in the insurance business, and was a realto/broker for 25 years, in which he was co-owner of Town and Country Realty. He was a member of the Magnolia Kiwanis Club, a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner, and was also a Member of the American Legion. Mr. Fortner enjoyed being with his family and friends, meeting new people, and hunting and fishing. He was a Christian and has gone to be with his Heavenly Father. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Gene Fortner and an infant sister. He is survived by his Wife, Martha Fortner of Columbus, Ms; Daughter Sandra Lynn Brock of Franklin, Tn; and Son, Billy Fortner, of Woodbridge, Va. The military will serve as pallbearers. The Magnolia Kiwanis Club will be honorary pallpearers. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association P.O.
