Connie Jean Hefner

October 6, 1953 — August 4, 2005

Connie Jean Hatton Hefner Columbus, Mississippi - Connie Jean Hatton Hefner, 52, died August 4, 2005, at her Home in Columbus, Mississippi. Mrs. Hefner was born October 6, 1953, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Leland Gene and Marlys Ethel Thomas Hatton. She was a homemaker. She was a Methodist. She loved and was especially gifted at caring for animals. She was a loving, caring, and generous woman. She was a child at heart. She loved adventure and getting on her hands and knees to play games, such as marbles, with her grandchildren. She had poetry and short stories published. She made special order dolls that looked like the child that they were made for. These dolls were made from a photo of the child. She made dolls, fairies, santas, quilts, embroidery, woodworks, nick nacks, and various other items that she sold at craft shows. She was passionate about her writings, crafts, animals, and her family. Although she had a unique way of showing and expressing how she felt, she did that through her writings and crafts. That was her outlet for her inner most emotions and feelings. She dreamed of adventures she was never able to have. She spoke of wanting to be a trucker so she could travel the roads of America, but she also wanted to have a scooter so she could park the truck and get on the back roads of America. That is where the most beautiful places are found. Mrs. Hefner's kitchen was the place for solving problems. That was the warmest place in her home. That is where delicious creations came from and love overflowed. Mrs. Hefner did not consider herself wise, but she was whether she knew it or not. She was a teacher. She taught her lessons without embellishment in her own unique way. She didn't care about the opinions of others. They were just voices. Instead, she did the hardest thing on earth and acted for herself. There was never a false pretense. Funeral services will be August 9, 2005, at 2:00 PM from Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Steve Brown officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 12:00-2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home.
