Cliff Yarbrough, age 68, went home to the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from lung cancer at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Cliff was born on September 15, 1943 to James Alvin Yarbrough and Frances Louise Hunt Yarbrough, both of whom preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his daughter Lee Anne Yarbrough Foster. Cliff was a self proclaimed "Jack of all Trades and Master of None" He worked as a private contractor, but specialized in central heat and air. For 8 years, he owned and operated the Waverly Marina in Clay County, the last 4 years with his sweetheart Rita Lere. Cliff attended Riverside Baptist Church in Clay County. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Lowndes County Wildlife Association and a long standing member of the Liars Club at the Columbus Huddle House. He is survived by his sisters: Pat Wooten (Ron) and Clytee Sessoms (Detra), both of Columbus, MS; his children: Tracy Yarbrough, Columbus, MS, Chris Yarbrough (Brandy) New Orleans, LA, Leigh Ann Wallace-Gunn (Mickey), Jackson, MS, Rusty Yarbrough (Darcy), Hampton, GA, Kaycee Yarbrough (Scott Russell), Marietta, GA., and Merrick VanLandingham (Laipin) Pensacola, FL.; grandchildren: Nicholas Foster, Foley, AL and Dillon Yarbrough, Hampton, GA. He had 2 nephews and 1 niece and 1 great nephew. Cliff is also survived by the love of his life, Rita Lere and their beloved dog, Taffy. Cliff was a hard worker and never met a stranger. He was affectionately known as "Papa C" to all the friends of his children. He was loved by many friends and will be missed forever and never forgotten. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home, Wednesday December 14, 2011 at 10 AM and a memorial service will follow at 10:30 AM. with Pastor Jim Sallee officiating.
