EVERETT WILLIAMS Thomas Everett Williams, Sr., passed away February 12, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was 76 years old. He was born April 12, 1937 to David Leslie (Shorty) and Ida Lou Williams. He was one of ten children born to them. He attended S. D. Lee High School and was a member of the football team. He joined the Navy and was stationed in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet at Charleston, SC when he met and married his wife of 56 years, Nathalie (Faye) Williams. They had two children, Denise W. Burchfield and Thomas E. Williams, Jr. After returning home, Everett worked at several jobs and then worked in sales at Caldwell Furniture for many years. Later he worked at Royal Furniture and then at Columbus Nissan where he was Service Manager. His final job was Park Ranger at Lake Lowndes State Park, when he suffered a stroke which incapacitated him for the next nine years until his death. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #69 of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, his only son, Thomas Everett Williams, Jr., his brothers David Harold Williams, Donald Ray Williams, Edward C. Williams, Samuel Neal Williams, and James Royce Williams, his sister Frances W. Crumpton, brothers in law, Nathan Pack Sr. and Kenneth N. Simon. Survivors include his wife, Nathalia (Faye) Williams, daughter Denise W. Burchfield, grandson Thomas Everett Williams, III (Trey), one great granddaughter Amy Caroline Williams, sisters Elaine W. Simon, Louise W. Pack, and Linda Stotts, sisters in law, Alethea Williams and Lynnda Williams, and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangments. He will be cremated and burial will be at a later date.
