D.T. Shaw, age 83, formerly of Columbus, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Burns Nursing and Rehab in Russellville, Al. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation was held Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. His funeral service will be Friday, October 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Home, with Rev. James Gardner officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The son of the late Charlie Dee and Mary Peeks Shaw, Mr. Shaw was born May 20, 1928 in Fayette, AL. A longtime resident of Columbus, MS, he was employed for 30 years as an iron worker at Multi-Purpose Manufacturing Co. in Columbus. When Multi-Purpose closed, he went to work at Monroe "Tufline and worked there for 5 years until he retired. He was a member of Living Faith Tabernacle. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Mary Pauline Bell Shaw, the mother of his children, and his second wife Martha Fay Pope Shaw, whom he married after his first wife died. He was also predeceased by a son Charlie D. Shaw, a daughter Peggy Joe Shaw and a brother Robert Shaw. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Eddie and Judy Shaw of Columbus and Christopher and Pamela Shaw of Hamilton, AL, daughter Jeweline Shaw Howren of Hamilton, AL and daughter and son-in-law Mary Ann and Charles Mize of Brownsville, KY and daughter-in-law Mary Elizabeth Shaw of Bruce, MS. He is also survived by a half-brother William Shaw (Ruth) of Columbus, MS and a half-sister Laverne Leonard of Bakersville, CA, 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be M.C.
