Mrs. Tumberlinson was born in Caledonia, MS on February 3, 1918 to Jefferson Janue Andrews and Louise Marion Malloy Andrews. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Seavey; granddaughter, Kathy Newton and 2 great-grandsons, Christopher and Brandon Newton. She is preceded in death by her husband, Reuben L. Tumberlinson, son-in-law, Marvin F. Seavey, four brothers; Sidney, Hal, Hunter and Lynwood Andrews and three sisters; Helen Richardson, Mary Louise McMullen and Grace Tywman Mrs. Tumberlinson was a descendant of one of the pioneer families of Lowndes County. She was the granddaughter of Dr. Rushton Malloy and great granddaughter of Dr. Adam Clark Malloy, son of Reverend Daniel Malloy, Sr. and Chamberlain and Mary Andrews. Frances recalled often with love and gratitude the story of how her grandfather, Dr. Rushton Malloy, a physician at old Columbus hospital, saved her life from a severe sepsis infection. Frances was a graduate of Lee High School. After graduation she worked for the State Tax Commission district office. After a four year courtship, she married Reuben Tumberlinson of Starkville, MS, on May 22, 1939. Reuben had promised his parents he would graduate from college before he married, so in keeping that promise he graduated in the morning and married Frances the same evening! Following their marriage, Frances was hired as secretary of Main Street Presbyterian Church during Dr. Horace Villees second year of ministry. She was employed as church secretary from 1950-1980. Mrs. Tumberlinson was a devoted member of Main Street Presbyterian for over 75 years. She was much more than just the church secretary. Miss Frances was a Sunday School teacher, Missions Committee member and very active in the WIC, always serving with a servants heart. After retirement she worked tirelessly chronicling a historical record of Main Street Presbyterian Church spanning from 1829-1996. At the 175th anniversary of the church, the historical room was dedicated and named in her honor, commemorating her love and devotion to her church and her dedication to recognizing the need and writing such a record. During their retirement years, together with her husband, membership in the Winnebago Club provided new friendships and many memorable trips all documented in detail by Mrs. Tumberlinson in travel diaries. Another of Miss Frances legacies were the countless numbers of tea cake cookies she baked for her beloved family, church family, friends and neighbors earning her the nickname the cookie lady ! Pallbearers will be Christopher Newton, Brandon Newton, Frank Ferguson, Billy Swedenburg, Larry Nickles and Tommy Wittley. Honorary pallbearers will include GG Morgan, Sammy Smith, Christopher Ledbetter, Robert Moore, Ronnie Richardson, Billy Shull, Billy Webb, Richard Laws, John Laws and Dr. Doyle Sumrall. The family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to those who cared for her so lovingly: Johnnie Harris, Michelle Sherrod, Gloria Jackson, the staff at Trinity Personal Care Home and Dr. Sumrall and his staff.
