LEOTA BOBITT Leota Rebecca Perry Bobitt, age 69, of Columbus, MS, passed away March 1, 2011, at Vineyard Court Nursing Center. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Speegle officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, March 5, 2011, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Bobitt was born June 5, 1941, in Newport News, VA, to the late Ausman and Helen Siler Perry. She was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and MSCW. Mrs. Bobitt also received her masters degree from Mississippi State University and was a retired teacher, having taught for 40 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Columbus Chapter #66 and served as Past Worthy Grand Matron of Mississippi. Mrs. Bobitt was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Pilot Club where she was involved with the annual Christmas Parade and Lifeline Program. Survivors include her husband, James Bobitt of Columbus, MS, son, Lewis Younger of Columbus, MS, and brothers, Grant Perry and Dean Perry of Oklahoma City, OK.
