Christie Lynn Barksdale Boatner, age 35, of Columbus, MS, passed away January 28, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home with Rev. James Gardner officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Pickens County, AL. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 31, 2012, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Christie was born June 5, 1976, in Aliceville, AL, to Betty Barksdale Vail of Columbus, MS, and the late Jessie J. Barksdale. She worked for a number of years in retail sales at various locations. Christie enjoyed painting, yard work, and spending time with her family. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kenna Nicole McGrew. Survivors include her husband, Chris Boatner, sons, Michael Timothy Varner and Samuel Britt Varner, daughters, Nikki Ruth Ann Varner and Tess Danielle Boatner, mother and step father, Betty Barksdale and Timmie Vail, brothers, Sammy Barksdale and wife Dorothy, Charles Barksdale, Richard Barksdale and wife Trena, and Paul Barksdale and wife Lena, and sisters, Vera Taylor and husband John, and Barbara Sanders, all of Columbus, MS. Pallbearers will be Simon McGrew, Bobby Barksdale, Wayne Taylor, Aaron Teague, Hank Johnson, and Michael Varner. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
