JAMIE B. DAGRESS - Jamie Blankenship Dagress, age 85, of Columbus, MS, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at her residence. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Pastor Floyd Smithey officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Curtis Chapel Cemetery in Oktibbeha County. Visitation will be Saturday, June 19, 2010, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Dagress was born February 28, 1925, in Artesia, MS, to the late C. L. and Bobbie Turner Blankenship. She was a lifelong resident of Columbus and an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Mrs. Dagress loved spending time with her family, shopping with her daughters, dancing at the Senior Dances, and baking for her family and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Dagress, son-in-law, Charles C. Brown, great grandson, John Thomas Holbrook, and nine siblings. Survivors include her daughters, Jamie Perronne (Bob) of Gulfport, MS, Miriam Hutchison (Charles) of Columbus, MS, and Mary Margaret Correll (Gene) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, sister, Bessie Sawyer of Alexandria, LA, grandchildren, Scott Brown, Angela West, Andrea Holbrook, Drew Hutchison, Allison Massey, Christoper Correll, and Ashley Correll, great grandchildren, Trae, Taylor, and Teddi Brown, Meagan and Kyle Maricle, Conneach West, Elise and Drew Holbrook, Bryan and Brittany Hutchison, and Brantley and Brooklynn Massey, and numerous nieces and nephews. The also leaves behind her special friends from the Senior Dances, and her close friend at home, Skippy the cat. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Drew Hutchison, Scott Brown, and Christopher Correll, and grandsons-in-law, Kevin Holbrook, Jamie Massey, and William West. The family extends special thanks to Elise McMaster, and Dr. Rhodemarie Maron of Tupelo Neurology Clinic, Stephanie Whitmire and Peachie Dorman of Gilbert's Home Health Care, and the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice.
