KEN DEMMIEN - Kenneth Irvin "Ken" Demmien, age 72, of Caledonia, MS, died July 15, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Columbus. A graveside memorial service was held Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Furnace Hill Cemetery in Vernon, AL, with full military honors. Rev. Don Harding officiated under the direction of Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Demmien was born October 4, 1937 in Dubois, PA, to the late Delbert Charles and Evelyn Belle Flook Demmien. He was a graduate of Williamsport, PA, High School and was a retired Master Seargent from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service. Mr. Demmien was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Collier. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Demmien of Caledonia, MS, daughters, Barbara Smith and her husband Jeff of Sulligent, AL, and Karen Rufey and her husband Robert of Broussard, LA, grandchildren, Kenneth Atkins, Jason Atkins, Tyler Atkins, Matt Corbett, Kimberly Sears, and Alec Sears, and great granddaughter, Madison Marie Corbett.
