LOIS HAYWARD Mary Lois Price Hayward, age 101, of Columbus, MS, passed away May 18, 2011, at Trinity Healthcare. Funeral services will be Friday, May 20, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Jonathan Speegle officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will also be Friday, May 20, 2011, one hour prior to the service at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Hayward was born September 3, 1909, in Pickens County, AL, to the late Redmond Jones and Lola Alvaretta Clifton Price. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Churcn where she served in the church nursery for many years. Mrs. Hayward enjoyed gardening and pets, and in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Lytle Hayward, son Ellis N. Hayward and his wife Dot, and daughter, Lillian Stewart and her husband Clark. Survivors include grandchildren, Jerry Derden and his wife Sue of CO, Riley Derden and his wife Barbara of KY, Eric Joosepson of MS, Brenda Halverson and her husband Jimmy of FL, Michael "Eddie" Hayward and his wife Margaret of Columbus, MS, and Tony Hayward and his wife Ann of LA, 13 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, dear friend, Lucille Ouzts, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Trinity Healthcare, 230 Airline Rd., Columbus, MS, 39702 or Calvary Baptist Church, 295 Dowdle Dr., Columbus, MS, 39702.
