MARTHA KIRKMAN Martha Carolyn Wells Kirkman, age 73, of Columbus, MS, passed away December 9, 2012, at her residence. Memorial services will be Thursday, December 20, 2012, at 10:30 AM at Shaeffer's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Curtis Bray officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, 2012, from 10:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Shaeffer's Chapel United Methodist Church. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Kirkman was born November 12, 1939, in Willmington, NC, to the late William and Willie Mae Lummus Wells. She was a graduate of Starkville High School and was a member of the Sessums Community Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Shaeffer's Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Gordon Kirkman. Survivors include her sons, William Kirkman of Starkville, MS, and David Kirkman of Maben, MS, daughters, Elizabeth Peacock of Starkville, MS, Jennifer Kirkman of Starkville, MS, and Isla Katherine Kirkman of Starkville, MS, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
