Donald Wayne Wright, age 65, of Hamilton, MS, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Care in Tupelo, MS, on September 24, 2013. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home in Columbus, MS, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Pastor Eugene O'Mary officiating. Burial will follow at Vaughn Cemetery on Wright Road in Caledonia, MS. He was the son of the late Rev. L. M. and Gladys Sharp Wright. He was born July 30, 1948, in Kosciuslo, MS. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious nine year old daughter, Dawn Wright, and his brother, Louis Marion Wright, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Susie Crawford Wright of Hamilton, MS, his sons, Jason Wright (Ashley) of Foley, AL, Shannon David Wright (Tiffany) of Caledonia, MS, and David Wilson of Seattle, WA, and daughter, Tiffany Card of Las Vegas, NV. He also leaves behind his only sister, Doris Wright Olds of San Antonio, TX, and his first wife, Lexie Wright Speed of Caledonia, MS. Also left to cherish fond memories are his six grandchildren, Drew Wright, Brody Wright, Noah Wright, Landon King, Gage Hamburg, Hannah Hamburg, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. Mr. Don graduated from S. D. Lee High School in 1967 and attended Wood College in Mathiston, MS before joining the United States Navy. He served four years based in Charleston, SC on a destroyer escort ship. He then continued as a naval reservist. Don was employed by D. S. McClanahan at Kerr McGee in Hamilton, MS, for twenty two years before retiring. Mr. Don enjoyed training and breeding dogs and horses. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He shared many life experiences and his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who were acquainted with him. Pallbearers will be Jeff Wright, Trey Crawford, Donnie Speed, Doug Lucas, Brad Elam, and Stacy Guined. Honorary pallbeaers will be all friends and family.
