DONALD PARTRIDGE - Donald W. Partridge, Sr., age 75, of Steens, MS, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Columbus. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 2, 2010, at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Andy Vaughn officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus with full military honors. Visitation will be Friday, October 1, 2010, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home Mr. Partridge was born May 9, 1935, in Akron, OH, to the late Walter and Icbinda Hilliard Partridge. He served in the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of T/SGT before retiring in May 1973. His military service spanned the Korean War, Cuban Bay of Pigs, and the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Partridge received the National Defense Services Medal, Army Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean and Vietnam Service Medals, Purple Heart, and Medal of Valor. Following his military retirement, he worked for CECO Building Systems in Columbus for 22 years retiring in May 1995. Along with his full time job, he served as auxiliary deputy sheriff for the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department from 1973 - 1988. Mr. Partridge was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Marie Stephens Partridge and is survived by his current wife, Cathy Camus Partridge of Steens, MS. Survivors also include his son, Donald W. Partridge, Jr. of Columbus, MS, daughter, Renee Partridge Ambrose (Timothy) of Melbourne, FL, sister, Sylvia Partridge Dillon (Richard) of New Market, TN, and preceded in death by sister JoAnn Partridge Byrd of Akron, OH, grandchildren, Andrew Hunt (Stephanie) of Richmond, KY, Carrie Hunt Cerve (Brian) of Melbourne, FL, DeAnna Partridge Howard (Bradley) of Ocean Springs, MS, Shawna Ambrose of Melbourne, FL, and DeLayne Partridge of Columbus, MS, and great grandchildren, Cody Hunt of Warner Robins, GA, Elijah Cerve and Josiah Cerve of Melbourne, FL.
