Verna Rhee Finch Egger, age 89, died Sunday December 23, 2012 at her residence in Caledonia. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 26, 2012 at Flint Hill United Methodist with Eddie Finch officiating. Burial will follow at Egger Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Egger was born April 9, 1923 in Lamar County, AL to the late Glover and Viola Matthews Finch. She was married to the late W.C. Buck Egger for 58 years. She was a 1941 graduate of Hamilton High School. She was an active member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church where she looked forward to worshipping each Sunday and visiting with her church family. She retired in 1987 from the Caledonia Post Office as Postmaster . She participated in Home Demonstration Clubs before working full time. She had a talent for sewing, gardening, growing and arranging flowers. She enjoyed many days fishing and camping on the river with her husband, family and friends. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and working crossword puzzles. She loved talking and visiting with her four grandsons and their families and cherished letters and happies from her three great-granddaughters. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bonnie and Donald Banks Finch. She will be missed by her daughters and their families, Sandra Kay (Larry) Richards of Meridian, MS, Kathy (Dennis) Gordon of Caledonia, MS; grandsons Carl (Shelley) Richards of Richmond, TX, Mike (Paula) Richards of Collinsville, MS, Andrew Gordon and Daniel Gordon of Caledonia and great-granddaughters Carley, Sarah and Sadie Richards, and special family members, Rebie Egger, Agnes Garner, Tangie Sansing, and Shelia Nalls. Pallbearers will be Johnny Finch, Ted Finch, Billy Finch, Phil Harmon, Tommy Harmon, Jack Langford and Harold Williams, Terry Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Rye, Brad Freeman, Frank Brock, Flint Hill Church Family, Dr. Michael Duckworth and staff, Dr John Whitecar and staff, and Dr. Dan Bennett and staff.
