Van Lee Hunley, Sr., age 73, of Caledonia, MS, passed away July 10, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 14, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Pam Rhea officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Sullivan Cemetery in Monroe County, MS, with full military honors. Visitation will be Saturday, July 13, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Hunley was born February 6, 1940, in Robbins, TN, to the late Roy V. and Vera Whalen Hill Hunley. He was a veteran of Vietnam having served in the United States Marines, Navy, and Air Force. Mr. Hunley participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis and Apollo Space Program. After retirement from the United States Air Force, he worked for many years as parts manager at Fitzner Automotive. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hunley was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Ilo Cline Hunley. Survivors include his sons, Van Lee Hunley, Jr. and his wife Irene of Caledonia, MS, and Albert Hunley, Sr. and his wife Elisabeth of Caledonia, MS, daughters, Roberta Brock and her husband Rickie of Caledonia, MS, and Denise Sibley and her husband Parrish of Columbus, MS, sister, Ruth Cramer of Charleston, SC, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be the Columbus Air Force Base Honor Guard.
